Editor's Note: The movies and showtimes have been removed from this article due to the original dates being cancelled. The Golden Ticket screenings will now be held June 1st - 3rd. You must still buy your tickets this week, though. The list of movies has changed slightly and has not be confirmed at this time. Apologies on behalf of the Downtown Arts District.
The Downtown Arts District is holding a special ticket giveaway to celebrate the opening of the Plaza Cinema Cafe. That's the new movie theater at The Plaza in downtown Orlando. The official Grand Opening will be May 28th, but this special pre-opening will also have movies screening and all proceeds will benefit the DAD.
They are using a theme present in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. For their pre-opening celebration, they are selling $20 tickets to movies, some new and some old, with a chance to win a behind-the-scenes tour of the new facility and one year of free movie admissions. There are five of these specially marked Golden Tickets.
Golden Tickets are on sale now and include single admission to a movie shown June 1-3, complimentary popcorn, soft drink, and one alcoholic beverage of choice for those ages 21 and older. Yes, there's a wine bar.
Tickets can be purchased at CityArts Factory, Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. or by calling (407) 648-7060 and also at Plaza Cinema Cafe.
If you park at The Plaza garage, they will validate parking to a discounted $4. To redeem validation, please bring your ticket to the box office at time of admission.
