The Gasparilla Film Festival is happening March 23-26, 2023. This is their 16th Anniversary edition.
There will be an Opening Night Reception at 5p.m. March 23rd at the Franklin Exchange Building. The Opening Night Film MIRANDA'S VICTIM will screen at 7p.m. at The Tampa Theatre. The film is set in 1963 and eighteen-year-old Patricia Weir is kidnapped and brutally raped. Committed to putting her attacker, Ernesto Miranda, in prison, Trish's life is destroyed by America's legal system as she triggers a law that transforms the nation. The film stars: Abigail Breslin, Kyle MacLachlan, Donald Sutherland, Emily VanCamp, Ryan Phillippe, Taryn Manning, Luke Wilson, Enrique Murciano, Nolan Gould. In attendance will be the director Michelle Danner, writer & producer George Kolber, producer Valerie Debler, and cast members Abigail Breslin, Enrique Murciano, and Taryn Manning.
On Friday, March 24th, Jim Gaffigan's new film Linoleum is on the schedule at 9p.m. at AMC Westshore 2. On Saturday March 25 at 12:30p.m., a block highlighting University of Tampa is also screening at AMC Westshore 2. Sunday, there will be a high school competition at Charlene Gordon Theater at 1p.m. and a college shorts program at AMC Westshore 2 at 2:15p.m. The Closing Night Film BLACKBERRY will screen at 6:30p.m. on Sunday, March 26th at the Tampa Theatre.
