It was John Theisen's farewell Film Slam and long time slam vet Elizabeth Anne fittingly took home first place. As Theisen mentioned in the Q&A, Lizzie and he have been participating in the Film Slams since its very inception.
Elizabeth Anne's short B-Side Artists: In the Beginning was the winning film for Film Slam 11 which took place Sunday, November 14th. The film is a documentary about a local art group and movement that highlights urban life in Orlando.
The second place short was 759 Dresden, another documentary by David Dunlap. Third place went to Just Thursday, a short by Fred Zara capturing a day in his life completely on his phone. It was a documentary sweep.
Next month, there is a break from the Film Slam. The winners from the past year will be screening again at the
Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase on December 4 & 5.
They are now taking submissions for next year. The next Film Slam will be in January.
