Orlando based director Brian Shepherd recently participated in a unique method of filmmaking. He was one of 25 filmmakers in the first CollabFeature. It is a co-production or collaboration feature. CollabFeature was started by a couple of filmmakers in Detroit, Michigan.
The project entails individuals creating their portion of a film in their respective part of the world. Some of the other areas represented are Beirut, Dubai, Sao Paulo, London, New York, New Dehli, Rome, Hong Kong, Paris, Johannesburg, Berlin, Bogota, Athens, Malaysia, Pakistan and more.
Their first collaborative effort is called The Backpack Project. Principle photography started in Sao Paulo, Brazil on May 29, 2010. The film ties 25 short films together with a backpack trying to get back to its owner. The backpack covered 19 cities, 14 countries on 5 continents on its journey.
This first project wrapped on December 22nd in Bedford, New York. Editing is currently underway and below is a their first teaser trailer on Vimeo.
