On Saturday, October 15th, the University of Central Florida Archives Collection Department will participate in the national Home Movie Day.
Home Movie Day is an effort that started in 2002 by film archivists to restore and educate the public about their old film footage.
Guests are invited to bring their home movies to be cleaned and screened or relax with a bag of popcorn and enjoy other home movies and UCF Home Movie archive footage. Home Movie owner's are also encouraged to donate their films to the UCF Home Movie Archive and will receive free digital transfers for doing so. In-depth information on cleaning, and preserving these delicate films will also be provided by the UCF Home Movie Day staff.
The UCF Home Movie Day event is taking place at the UCF Center for Emerging Media located at 500 W. Livingston Street in downtown Orlando. The event runs 11:00am to 4:00pm.
