Greenwich Entertainment acquired the feature Starring Jerry as Himself.  The film won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the 2023 Slamdance Film Festival.

The story is about Jerry Hsu, an ordinary Taiwanese immigrant retired in Orlando, who becomes a spy in an international money laundering investigation. After months of keeping his mission secret, Jerry finally reveals everything to his family. This prompts Jerry's actual son and producer of the film, Jonathan Hsu, to ultimately dramatize his father's ordeal in order to discover the truth about what really happened and how it changed Jerry's life forever.

In making this shapeshifting documentary/narrative hybrid, Jonathan reached out to Law Chen, an award winning commercial, film and documentary shorts director, who also co-produced and co-wrote with Jerry Hsu. They enlisted family members, actors, and most importantly Jerry himself to tell his baffling story.

The film was shot in 25 days, of which about 15 were in Orlando. The portions shot in Orlando were done on weekends and holidays between August 2021 and February 2022. Producer Jonathan Hsu said, "The locations were mostly in private areas such as Jerry's apartment, his car, a public park, and we also got the chance to film at Chuan Lu Garden, iFresh Market, and Japango (no longer around)."

So keep an eye out this fall for this Orlando based story.  Hopefully it will land in nearby theaters like the Enzian in Maitland and Green Light Cinema in St. Pete.
