Lions Gate adds to 75k top prize
(released 10/13/2004)

A personal meeting with the President of Production at Lions Gate Films in Los Angeles tops the list of prizes for the winner of this year’s Collaboration …A Short Film Contest. In addition, top winners of the seventh annual, award-winning competition will share in more than $75,000 worth of Florida based production services for the professional, novice and student categories as well as a host of other prizes donated by entertainment industry leaders. The winning student team will have a private meeting and critique with the senior industry executives who comprise the judging panel. We expect NY and LA VIPs from Miramax, United Talent Agency, HBO, American Black Film Festival and Newmarket. The Entertainment Industry Incubator, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Florida based entertainment businesses, is proud to announce the 2004-2005 launch of this annual, highly acclaimed guerilla filmmaking challenge. Filmmakers from around the State will assemble in teams of six to script, shoot and edit a five minute film based on an assigned theme. Each team will consist of a producer, writer, director, editor, camera and sound person, and will be categorized as either Professional or Novice for the competition. High schools students will participate in a category of their own. On November 8th, all team members will receive this year’s theme and have a total of 30 days to complete the five minute project. Participants must be Florida residents and may register individually (and be matched with other filmmakers) or register together as a team of six. The all inclusive entry fee package of $95 per person ($25 for students) includes administrative fees, a wrap party (in some locations), admission to the senior-level industry workshop and the black-tie Premiere Gala on February 5, 2005. (The $25 student entry fee is non inclusive). At this event, the top fifteen films will be shown to a panel of NY and LA senior film industry executives from Miramax, HBO, Newmarket, ABFF and UTA, among others, along with an audience of more than five hundred industry professionals and their supporters.
