THE LOUIS WOLFSON II FLORIDA MOVING IMAGE ARCHIVE PRESENTS MIAMI BEACH ON FILM AND TELEVISION: ELECTIONS PAST AND PRESENT
Saturday, October 23, 2004
11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Wolfsonian-FIU
Join former CNN anchor and reporter Dan Hackel for this special seminar and screening examining film and television images of election coverage past and present. Currently a professor of Journalism at Valencia Community College in Orlando, Dan Hackel will guide us through the decades as he looks back on the way television covered presidential and local campaigns. Utilizing footage from the Florida Moving Image Archive's extensive television collection dating from the 1950s through the present, along with footage from other archives, this is a rare opportunity to view how election coverage changed over the years.
This program will also feature news stories with a Miami Beach and South Florida dateline, including the Republican National Convention of 1968, the Democratic and Republican Conventions of 1972 and, more recently, the 2000 and 2004 presidential campaigns. With the election just days away, show your support and vote to attend this screening and seminar.
