Local actor and filmmaker John Tindall has put together some footage to compile a documentary that will have its festival premiere on Sunday, December 11th. The screening is the final night of the Global Peace Film Festival at the DMAC in downtown Orlando. It is part of the 9:30pm Peace Film Slam.
Asked to describe the film, this is what John had to say...
"The project followed a relief shipment from America to the streets of Romania. Orlando resident and former Romanian orphan Nick Simon organized this collection of gently used items for delivery to the less fortunate orphans that still remain in his hometown of Bucharest. The project covers the brief history of communism and decisions that led so many children into orphanages and eventually into the streets. The running time is less than twenty minutes, but it is packed with rare images and information that anyone not so familiar with Romania would be surprised to uncover. I put the project together with footage shot in Romania, Holland, and the U.S. by myself, Jonathan Figg, and Jeff Deane. I am really proud of this project and I hope to continue making socially relevant pieces. Visiting Romania was such an eye opener, not a day goes by that I don't consider myself lucky to be born in a country with so much opportunity."
So go out to the DMAC Sunday evening and support local film.
