(released 1/27/2006)

The Entertainment Industry Incubator held it's eighth statewide short film competition entitled "Collaboration…A Short Film Contest" and presented awards this past weekend in Miami. The short film, "The Ties That Bind", placed third in the professional category of the competition. "The Ties That Bind" was submitted by the Orlando team: Melissa Gruver/Producer, Randy Molnar/Writer, Adam Showen/Director and Editor, Andy Montejo/Director of Photography, Steve Rick/Sound and Ron Sansone/Composer.

Melissa Gruver attributed the success of the film to her talented team and the gifted actors who donated their time to the project. The cast included Derek Ormond, Kevin O'Neill, Jennifer Hampton, Randy Molnar, Axelle Rayrolles, Patrick Reilly and Theresa "Tree" Peyton. Florida Film and Tape provided the location for the film.

The "Collaboration" competition was designed to promote filmmakers in the State of Florida. The judges for the event were from all areas of the industry including the Independent Film Channel, Harlem Film Festival, Animus Group, Casanova Films, International Media Resources and American Black Film Festival. Teams throughout Florida that entered the contest were given a theme and 30 days to write, cast, shoot and edit the film.
