The 48 Hour Film Project is the film contest that requires filmmaking groups to create short films in 2 days with requirements like a line of dialogue, a character, and a prop. They have to stick to a genre. All of the elements are doled out at the beginning of the 48 hour countdown.
The contest has been going strong since 2001 and has grown to over... well, it's countable, but someone else can do that. It's a lot of cities around the globe.
These city contests have screenings and winners are picked. Each year, these culminate into Filmapalooza where global winners are announced along with screenings, networking, and of course, partying.
Recent Filmapaloozas were held in Atlanta in 2016, Seattle in 2017, and Paris in 2018. This year, it is being held in Orlando and it's coming soon. Filmapalooza 2019 is March 6-9 in downtown Otown.
The international jury is being headlined by Riverdale actress Nathalie Boltt. Joining her are Carlos Barbosa (production designer), Derk van den Berg (producer), Keshni Rajoo (producer), and Peter Vickers (acting and writing coach).
