Confessions of a Thug, a hip-hop musical chronicling the life of a college-educated street hustler, is set for its New York premiere June 23rd at the Urbanworld Vibe Film Festival. A finalist in the juried film festival, Confessions of a Thug features dramatic performances by platinum recording artists The Lady of Rage (Robyn Allen) and J.T. Money and boasts 11 musical performances by Daron "South Boy" Fordham. Fordham wrote, directed, and stars in the film. Raymond Forchion produced.
Having experienced tremendous success with his underground comedies, Black Spring Break I and II, and documentary, Shake Dance, Fordham is looking forward to the world premiere of his first feature film. "We've created a whole new genre," says Fordham, who was inspired by the lifestyle and business savvy of hip-hop heavyweight Jay-Z. "It's fantastic that a festival like Urbanworld Vibe has acknowledged the film and has included it in their lineup."
Confessions of a Thug, which also stars John Martino (The Godfather) and local talents Sandra Milliner and Ben Affan, will premiere Friday, June 23rd and the final screening is slated for Saturday, June 24th.
