Women in Film & TV – Florida has joined forces with the City of Orlando's Harry P. Leu Gardens in promoting and supporting an outdoor romantic movie outing once a month. The first WIFT - Florida "Date Night at Leu Gardens" will be held on Friday, July 7th.
"We are very excited about this partnership," said Ms. Jennifer Pennypacker, President of WIFT - Florida. "Leu Gardens is such an incredibly gorgeous setting and we couldn't think of a more perfect place to see a great romantic movie."
This partnership was a natural fit for both organizations. "Date Night at Leu Gardens" features current and classic romantic movies on the largest outdoor screen in Central Florida. The event was created to give Central Floridians a unique evening out and to celebrate a bit of history of the Leu House Museum – silent screen star and first woman to ever own her own movie company, Helen Gardner, lived in the house from 1902–1906.
Gardens open at 6pm and the movie starts at 8:30pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to stroll through the Gardens before the movie starts.
Adults are $5.00 (plus tax); Children (K–12th) graders are $1.00 (plus tax). Members of Leu Gardens are admitted free to "Date Night".
Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket, chairs, dinner picnic basket, etc. There will be sandwiches, drinks, and popcorn for sale. In the event of poor weather conditions, "Date Night at Leu Gardens" will be moved inside or postponed. NOTE: This Friday's event will most likely be moved inside and will be limited to 350 people.
