Sundance Theater Laboratory Program Accepting Applications
The Sundance Theatre Laboratory is a three-week long workshop that offers playwrights, directors, choreographers, composers, solo performers, and ensembles the time, space, and support to develop new plays and musicals or to explore new approaches to existing scripts.
The Sundance Theatre Laboratory provides professional actors, dramaturgs, rehearsal space, stage management, and round-trip air transportation, accommodations, and food for the collaborative team working on each project.
Applications can be submitted by playwrights, directors, or choreographers. We prefer to have a committed director attached to all projects. Sundance is interested in both established and emerging theatre artists, as well as artists making a transition from areas outside of theatre. We welcome solo performers and projects for young audiences. In the case of projects that are not strictly text-based (dance/theatre pieces, image-based work), an artistic statement detailing the style and vision of the piece is essential. Previous applicants may re-apply. Participants must be available for the entire length of the Lab. Artists can only submit one application.
Deadline for all submissions is December 15, 2004. Applicants will be notified by April 9, 2005. The Sundance Theatre Laboratory will be held over three weeks: July 11-31, 2005 at the Sundance Village in Sundance.
Who can apply:
Playwrights, directors, composers and choreographers are eligible to apply. Playwright/director teams are encouraged. Collaborators, including writers, directors, composers, choreographers, and solo performers must be listed on the application, as well as number of actors needed. Applicant(s) can only submit one application. Previous Lab participants or applicants can re-apply. Participants must be available for the entire length of the Lab.
