If you haven't yet heard of the reality show about to gear up called "On the Lot" by Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett, then you better check to see if you have a pulse. Filmmakers from all over the country are submitting their 5 minute short films for the chance to be on the show. Sixteen filmmakers will be chosen to make a new short film every week until one filmmaker remains. This filmmaker will win a $1 million development deal with Dreamworks.
Local director Todd Thompson will be shooting Mr. Bubbs under the Stars North banner. Mr. Bubbs, written by ex-Disney animator Peter Raymundo and adapted to the screen by Thompson, encompasses the seriousness of pedophilia, the horrors of kidnapping and the sweet smell of revenge, all in a fast-paced, 5-minutes.
Produced by Stars North's Smithy Sipes and partners John De La Rosa and Ryan Conroy, Mr. Bubbs will star local actors Kendall Ganey (The Little Princess) and Alan Lilly (Bully, The Punisher). The film is being executive produced by Michael J. Whelan and will be shot on location in Celebration, Florida.
