My name is Leon Ernest Connell and I am the Writer/Producer/Director of the upcoming short film, entitled, 'Voices in My Head.' This short film deals with the harsh reality of suicide and the voices that speak to young people, within themselves, that contribute to it. The challenge here is not making the film, but in spreading a message that is easy to relate to, by both victims and their families. What is most important to us is the message. Making a short film that speaks to those going through this ordeal is the greatest reward. Spreading the message of Suicide prevention is important, it CAN save a life.
I decided to write about this topic because he felt that this issue was being overlooked in our society. When an incident occurs, we talk about it for a day and push it to the side. Many people try to stigmatize others because they hold on to the belief of those people with mental disorders are weak or just lack willpower. This issue affects all communities. It does not discriminate. It knows no gender, sex, race, financial status, or age.
Initially, this will be a zero-budget production, but if we are able to raise the necessary funds, it will turn into a paid project. We have recently acquired fiscal sponsorship from 'From The Heart Productions,' meaning that 100% of your donations are tax exempt. We value the skill and donation of time of our crew very much and appreciate your willingness to volunteer as a member of our team and, hopefully, share in the long-term rewards.
