SYNOPSIS: A UCF BFA student film. Using the superhero genre as a platform, reality is challenged through both expectations of the genre and film form as the film blends narrative and documentary processes with experimental production techniques and editing. This film will be made with festival submissions in mind.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS

JON (Black male, mid-to-late 20's) - Everything about Jon says "superhero," even down to the costume...but he has no powers. He begins questioning if he can actually make a difference, especially in the life of his younger brother, and his son.

MIRA (Latinx female, mid-to-late 20's) - Jon's girlfriend, and mother of their son, is worried about Jon with the increasing tension between police and heroes, and news of hero deaths on television (flexible for Afro-Latinx)

DEANDRE (Black male, early 20's) - Feeling abandoned by his brother, he falls in with a tough crowd from the neighborhood, but when Jon comes back to town his concept of family is challenged yet again.

ALEX ("Brown," 12-18 months passing) - Child of Jon and Mira (Can be flexible for any gender)

REESE (Black male, late 20's) - The leader of the neighborhood gang, remembers when Jon used to run with them. Now fostering as a mentor for Deandre, he feels challenged with Jon's return as a "hero." (Ethnicity flexible)
