SILK LADDER CALL SHEET
Female 18-25, any ethnicity. Willow, a high functioning autistic girl, has to deal with the heavily emotional situation of a break up. She is a fan of fairy tale literature, and often references her favorite stories to cope with and make difficult decisions. In the end, she realizes fairy tales really don't come true.
WILLOW – 18 year old high school graduate stuck in an old fashion, conservative, “make America white again” town. There's no commerce within walking distance, other then a grocery store. a gas station, and her haven – a book store. Her parents wont help with transportation, so it's impossible to get a job or go to college. Her only hope is applying for enough grants and aid to live on a campus at State.
Willow has always been different from the rest of her peers. She lacked personal savvy, communication skills, and made poor judgments. She was often put down for it, and beleaguered by her parents. Her passion for reading, primarily fairy tales, helped her escape her reality.
Not until late in her senior year at high school, was it discovered that Willow was high functioning autistic. Had it been discovered sooner, intervention could have assisted in her abilities to communicate and make effective decisions. Willow was left to fend on her own though. Luckily she had the help of fairy tales.
Willow's senior year also brought about her first romantic relationship. Her handsome prince came disguised as another young woman. Willow never really thought of herself as a lesbian, but she was so attracted to being “swept of her feet”, she gave it a shot. And boy was she ever “swept off her feet”. The feelings of yearning for your partners companionship, and lust were so great with Willow. She was on a romantic euphoric high, she thought would never end.
