The Global Peace Film Festival is screening the 2003 documentary film Brother Outsider on Sunday, February 3rd at 7:30pm at Urban ReThink. Global Peace Film Festival takes place in September in Orlando and also shows films monthly at Urban ReThink.
The film Brother Outsider is a biographical documentary about Bayard Rustin. Rustin was the organizer of the 1963 March on Washington at which Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered the "I Have a Dream" speech. He was a leader of the civil rights movement in the United States from '55-'68. Rustin's nonviolence influence on the movement came from his work as a disciple of Ghandi. Rustin was also openly gay at a time when opponents and comrades frequently used it against him.
This 2003 Sundance selection runs 83 minutes.
