48 Hour Film Project is Back in Orlando
(released
Sunday, July 13, 2014)
By Douglas Lorah
The 48 Hour Film Project is returning to Orlando. The timed filmmaking competition takes place from August 22-24, 2014. Registration is now open.
The 48HFP is a competition where filmmaking teams have 48 hours over a weekend to write, direct, shoot, and edit a film. As if that is not enough a challenge, it becomes a fun puzzle when each team draws a movie genre from a hat at the start. The teams must also incorporate a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue into their film entry which must be submitted by 7:30pm on Sunday, August 24th.
Films are screened at the Cobb Plaza Cinema Cafe in downtown Orlando on September 10th and 11th with a Best of Screening and Awards on September 14th. Also, the top Orlando film goes on to screen at the collective Filmapalooza. Last year's Filmapalooza was held in New Orleans. Furthermore, International Awards are given including a $5,000 prize. The top ten films will screen at the Cannes Film Festival's Short Film Corner in 2015.
To enter, teams can come pre-formed or individual filmmakers can attend any of the Meet & Greets at CuePhoria Billiards and join a team. The early bird registration is $140 if registered by July 28. Regular registration is $160 per team.
More information including the team registration form can be found at www.48hourfilm.com/orlando/. You can also follow the event on Facebook.
