(released

By Douglas Lorah
After not hearing much out of the state film office over the past year, some good news has finally been announced.
Niki Welge has been appointed the State Film Commissioner or more formally known as Commissioner of the Florida Office of Film and Entertainment within the Division of Strategic Business Development, Department of Economic Opportunity. Niki has served as the interim Film Commissioner for the past 14 months, and has worked in the Florida Office of Film and Entertainment for more than 11 years.
The absence of a film commissioner came on the sudden announcement last year when Shari Kerrigan stepped down in July. No details were given as to why Kerrigan resigned. That announcement can be viewed here.
