The film has college bound Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) crossing paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) a natural born Scarer, something Mike has dreamed of becoming and is going to study at the University. Dreams are dashed and the two realize they need to work together, along with other misfit monsters, if they hope to make it right.
