By Kim Burke
Today, I spoke briefly with Bay County Film Commissioner Julie Gordon. I inquired about the thread of publications I had seen chattering about yet another production that may be lost to Louisiana Incentives.
She confirmed that the stories I was reading were authentic. "This is real." She has been in talks with a major studio for some time about a film Panama City P.D.
The 30 million dollar studio budget will go to Louisiana if our state incentives are not increased and approved. Studios have bottom lines. The cost to film in Florida versus the cost of Louisiana is business. A lot of business in fact. 245 million in business is the increase Louisiana has seen since they created their trumping incentive. The issue of Florida Incentives is currently being discussed in the Florida State Legislature.
