Stars Set for Sarasota Film Festival Appearances

The stars come to Sarasota Film Festival starting March 31 through April 9, 2017. Diane Lane, Rory Kennedy, Aisha Tyler, and former NBA star Kenny Anderson. Rory Kennedy's documentary of surfer Laird Hamilton will be the opening night film and Eleanor Coppola's narrative directorial and screenwriting debut film PARIS CAN WAIT starring Diane Lane will close the festival. Aisha Tyler is a first time director with her feature AXIS. Tyler shot the entire film from the inside of a car in Los Angeles.
"This year's festival is reflective of the power and strength women around the world showcase every day, and we couldn't be happier," said Mark Famiglio, President of the Sarasota Film Festival. "To have iconic and talented women such as Diane Lane, Rory Kennedy, and Aisha Tyler attend the festival this year is a great honor."
Centerpiece films this year include MARJORIE PRIME with a cast of Jon Hamm, Geena Davis, Lois Smith, and Tim Robbins along with the documentary film by Barbara Kopple, THIS IS EVERYTHING: GIGI GORGEOUS about a former competitive diver transitioning from male to female.
Kenny Anderson will take part in an initiative for local IMG Academy and Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota County. Anderson will attend screenings of the documentary MR. CHIBBS about his life and participate in motivational speaking engagements.
Opening and closing night films will take place at the Sarasota Opera House located at 61 North Pineapple Avenue.
