Things That Hang From Trees Premieres at SXSW
(released
Monday, February 27, 2006)
By Douglas Lorah
Aviles Street Productions came to Florida in May 2005 and filmed Things That Hang From Trees in the historic city of St. Augustine. This is fitting since the story by T.A. Louis takes place there.
Producer Joseph Zolfo stated, "We loved filming in Florida and hope to come back many times. It was a great experience."
Synopsis
The time is 1969. An eight-year-old boy's wish to see the fireworks from atop the city's lighthouse is complicated by his odd neighbors, abusive peers, and hopeless parents. The young boy's seemingly simple goal develops into a struggle in which his life, both internal and corporeal, hangs in the balance.
Premiere
The film is making its debut screening at SXSW on Saturday, March 11th. For more info on the screenings at SXSW, go to: http://2006.sxsw.com/film/screenings/film/F4693.html
Future screenings include the New Director's / New Films program hosted by MOMA and The Film Society at Lincoln Center in New York.
