"Flicks on Fairbanks" celebrates its belated 2nd Anniversary with a brand new line-up of shorts, all somewhat comedic and all locally made... save for one (shot on video) from the city of Kodak Corporate Headquarters!
April's "Flicks on Fairbanks" line-up features:
"Fantastic Jeremy Eats Breakfast" (2005, 1 min. / surreal comedy) Writer/Director: Joseph Mauceri
"Tan Trick" (2006, 30 sec. / experimental… comedy?) Writer/Director: Joseph Mauceri
"Especially Henry" (2005, 3 min. / post nuclear comedy) Writer/Director: Joseph Mauceri
From Rochester, NY - "Best of Luck" (2003, 25 min. / heartwrenchingly comedic documentary) Writer/Director: Zoje Stage. Over a ten year period Ms. Stage received nearly 1,000 rejections for her writing efforts. What keeps a writer going in the face of constant rejection? Creative compulsion. Eternal hope. Stupefying masochism. Florida Premiere!
"Carl Knickerbocker: Element Art Cars" (2006, 5 min. 25 sec. / documentary w/comical moments) Producer: Bob Lataille. Videographer: Mark Murley. Carl Knickerbocker is a self-taught artist/painter who refers to his work as Suburban Primitive. He has recently developed a method to temporarily transform all Honda Element vehicles, including his own, into individual creative "art cars" using vinyl magnets. World Premiere!
"The Banana Shell" (2005, 6 min. / romantic comedy) Writer/Director: Brett Ryan Bonowicz. A man explores his infatuation with a woman through his art.
"Mr. Malikai Battles The Aeroplane" (2005, 10 min. 30 sec. / whimsical
comedy) Writer/Director: Drew Blatman. The quiet life of Mr. Malikai turns far too loud when an unexpected aeroplane won't leave him alone. Direct from the Florida Film Festival!
Presiding over the anniversary festivities, as always, is "Flicks on Fairbanks" producer and host Brian Feldman, who in-between movies will struggle through awkwardly unfunny Q&A sessions with the witty filmmakers in attendance.
In addition, there will be funny prize giveaways, a lovingly handcrafted commemorative souvenir program and vegan anniversary cake for all in attendance!
Created by Constantin Traian Preda, "Flicks on Fairbanks" is Central Florida's premiere coffee house cinema screening series, held the first Monday of every month at Austin Coffee and Film in Winter Park.
The 2 year special anniversary edition of Flicks On Fairbanks will be held on Monday, April 3, 2006 at 8:00 PM. Doors for the event open at 7:50 PM. Movies begin at 8:00 PM. Admission is Free.
