FMPTA is hosting Michael King at their April 17th program. Michael will be bringing in a short trailer from his film The Way Back Home which he will screen and talk about how he made the move back to Central Florida and put together his 35mm feature film.
Michael, born in Winter Park, began his television acting career on the soap opera As the World Turns. He then moved to Los Angeles where he has been working in television and film since. Hear Michael's story of what brought him back to Central Florida, how he put this film together with his producing partner Paul Sirmons, and how they were able to lure veteran actresses Julie Harris and Ruby Dee to star in the film.
An excerpt that Michael and co-producer Alan Lilly posted on their film web site states: "One of the most important aspects of doing this film in Central Florida is letting people know that it is COMPLETELY REALISTIC to be doing more and more films here. We have the crews, the talent, and the technical capability to do it ALL here!" That ties in well with FMPTA's mission statement and we hope to have another sellout crowd at DMAC on April 17th to meet Michael King in person. At this program, Michael will talking about how The Way Back Home was written and produced and will be happy to answer any questions that aspiring actors, screenwriters, and film makers might have. The program will be held on Monday, April 17th at the Downtown Media Arts Center (DMAC) located at 39 S. Magnolia Ave. Orlando, FL 32801. DMAC is located in the green two story building on the corner of Pine Street and Magnolia Avenue. For more info and directions visit:
