The Tampa premiere screening of "THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON" will include a Q and A post screening with Writers/Directors Tyler Wilson and Michael Schwartz. The screening will be held Monday, August 12, 2019 from 7:30p.m.-10p.m. at AMC West Shore 14 (210 Westshore Plaza).
This screening event is hosted by the Gasparilla International Film Festival, The Drew Garabo Show on 102.5 the Bone, and the Vice President of The Down Syndrome Association of Tampa.
The film tells the story of Zack Gottsagen who is from South Florida. Gottsagen, a young man with Down Syndrome, runs away from a residential nursing home. He is following his dream of attending a professional wrestling school of his idol The Salt Water Redneck played by Thomas Haden Church. A turn of events has Zack meeting Tyler, played by Shia LaBeouf, a small time outlaw on the run, becoming Zack's coach and ally. The two wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whiskey, find God, catch fish and convince Eleanor played by Dakota Johnson, a nursing home employee charged with Zak's return, to join them on the adventure.
The writers/directors met Zack at a camp six years ago. They wanted to shine a light on Zack's charisma, self confidence and write a story that was written expressly for him.
