Flitter Named Lead in Ace Ventura Jr.
(released
Monday, July 16, 2007)
By Douglas Lorah
According to an article on Moviehole, the lead actor in the next Ace Ventura movie has been named. It is not Jim Carrey. The actor is Josh Flitter, who is actually playing the son of the famous detective in Ace Ventura Jr. Flitter has been in Eternal Sunshine, The Greatest Game Ever Played, and more recently Nancy Drew and License to Wed.
The screenplay was written by Jeff Sank and the Heimberg brothers, Jason and Justin. The film is being produced by Wayne Morris, which he briefly spoke of regarding upcoming projects in an interview on May 25th. Ace Ventura Jr. is being executive produced by Morgan Creek Productions, which also just EP'd Sydney White.
The director will be David Evans who has done The Sandlot as well as Beethoven's 3rd and 4th movies. There is no indication that he will be helming the next Beethoven film for Universal Family, but logistically and experience-wise that would make sense.
