United Arts of Central Florida named its grant recipients for fiscal 2008. Their grants are broken up into three categories: General Operating Support, Organizational Project Support, and Professional Development.

Directly affecting the local film community, Enzian Theater was awarded $58,811 under General Operating Support.

Going back to film's ancestry... theatre, grants were awarded to Orlando Repertory Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, and Helen Stairs Theater under General Operating Support. For Organizational Project Support, grants were awarded to the following theatres: Bay Street Players, Florida Children's Repertory Theatre, Mad Cow Theatre, Melon Patch Players, Mount Dora Theatre Company, Orlando Fringe Festival, Orlando Theatre Project, People’s Theatre, and the Winter Park Playhouse.

Last year, Carla Poindexter was awarded $1,500 for an animated film and artist's book under Professional Development. The Professional Development grants for 2008 have not been awarded and United Arts is still taking applications through Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 5pm.
